ना था कुछ तो खुदा था,

 कुछ ना होता तो खुदा होता

 डुबोया मुझ को होने ने,

 ना होता मैं तो क्या होता  

It never ceases to amaze me how the essence of Quantum Physics is captured in this Ghalib’s verse.

You just have to replace खुदा with the wave function and डुबोया with measurement to understand.

ना था कुछ तो खुदा था → before anything the wave function was still there

कुछ ना होता तो खुदा होता → the wave function would still have existed

डुबोया मुझ को होने ने, → measurement destroyed my entanglement with the One wave function

ना होता मैं तो क्या होता → if there was no measurement, I would still be part of the wave function

Ghalib understood Quantum theory long before others 🙂
